About the Role
This position involves performing a variety of tasks related to day-to-day sales, product transportation, issue, receipt, delivery, and control for a distribution center. The role includes driving trucks for short and long distances to deliver products to customers while adhering to company safety policies and state/federal transportation regulations. Additional warehouse duties may include prioritizing and picking materials, loading/unloading trucks, and managing physical inventory.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload delivery trucks, including physically moving and lifting products weighing up to 150 pounds.
- Transport products from origin to destination in a timely manner as assigned.
- Verify incoming and outgoing product for accuracy in amount, size, and type; report inventory shortages and assist in periodic inventory counts.
- Familiarize yourself with product literature, promotions, and programs to convey product information and availability to customers.
- Ensure all administrative paperwork for delivery orders is available for inspection and accompanies shipments.
- Maintain professional representation of the company in customer interactions and through responsible driving.
- Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver’s logs, fuel purchases, and mileage records.
- Abide by all company safety policies and state/federal transportation regulations.
- Operate powered industrial vehicles (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers) safely and maintain required operator licenses.
- Organize warehouse stock by product line and physical alignment, allowing space for overflow.
- Perform periodic facilities maintenance and custodial tasks, such as cleaning the parking lot, loading dock, and warehouse floors.
- Compile and submit reports on damaged, outdated, or defective stock, over/under shipments, and product returns.
- Prioritize and pick materials to fill orders and stage products for loading.
- Assist in administrative tasks, such as handling and preparing paperwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and handle receipts, read maps, maintain logs, etc.
- Ability to manage processes or procedures while prioritizing safety and compliance.
- Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
- Ability to drive in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or tight loading areas.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid CDL Class A Driver License with an Airbrakes endorsement.
- Must be able to obtain or currently hold a CDL Medical card.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 8 years of route delivery driver experience desired.
