About the Role

The CDL Driver is responsible for delivering products to and from customers, company branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers. This role ensures deliveries are prepared efficiently, materials are correct and damage-free, and all documentation is completed accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects; complete a daily inspection report.
  • Keep company vehicle clean, serviced, and maintained; alert supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Follow Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations.
  • Load and unload vehicle; verify all material for each order (quantity and type) is correct and damage-free before departure.
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed.
  • Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed at delivery, including signed delivery receipts, packing lists, and branch/warehouse manifests.
  • Pick up material returns from customers; inspect condition, verify quantities, and catalog numbers.
  • Pick up material from company suppliers.
  • Perform other branch duties as required, including counter sales, order preparation, receiving, stocking, staging, shipping, and maintaining branch equipment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of driving experience and 1+ years of CDL driving experience preferred, or 1+ years of CDL driving experience required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record reviews.
  • Must obtain a non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
  • No driver’s license suspensions for traffic accidents/violations within the past 3 years.
  • No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years.

Skills

  • Ability to handle loads with a combined weight of 26,000 GVW.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and traffic/driver laws.
  • Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Working Environment

  • Exposed to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments (e.g., high noise levels, heat, cold): Occasionally (up to 20% of the time).
  • Exposed to electrical hazards and risk of electrical shock: Occasionally (up to 20% of the time).
  • Handles or works with potentially dangerous equipment: Frequently (21% to 50% of the time).
  • Travels to offsite locations: Constantly (at least 51% of the time).

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
