About the role
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Driver to transport materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites and yards. This role plays a critical part in supporting construction operations by ensuring timely and secure deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a valid Class “A” CDL with a driving record that meets company MVR policy guidelines.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload construction and paving equipment.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the safe operation of construction and paving equipment.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking fluid levels (oil, water, fuel) and inspecting for leaks, damage, or mechanical issues.
- Complete and maintain accurate Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Promptly notify supervisors of any vehicle defects or maintenance needs.
- Operate trucks with various trailer combinations, including lowboy trailers.
- Calculate equipment and load weights to ensure compliance with DOT permitting requirements and legal load limits.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all USDOT, FMCSA, and cargo securement rules and regulations.
- Operate vehicles equipped with air brakes and standard transmissions.
- Safely operate additional commercial vehicles such as water tankers, flatbeds, or other equipment as needed, within license endorsements and company guidelines.
- Perform incidental duties and assist with tasks within other crafts as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or B CDL (depending on vehicle type).
- Clean driving record and current DOT medical card.
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience hauling construction materials or equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with load securement, tie-down procedures, and safe operating practices.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and assist with loading/unloading when required.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
