CDL Driver

OP Nutrition (OPN), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indiana Packers Corporation, is seeking CDL Drivers to work at the feed mill in Peru, Indiana. This full-time, hourly position operates primarily during the day with no overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including all DOT and INDOT requirements.
• Transport products and materials safely between company facilities, distribution centers, and customer sites.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain accurate electronic driver logs (ELD), trip reports, and shipping documentation in accordance with DOT standards.
• Ensure that all loads are properly secured and comply with weight, safety, and temperature requirements (if applicable).
• Follow established delivery schedules and communicate proactively with dispatch and the Transportation Manager regarding delays or route changes.
• Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and adhere to all company appearance and safety standards.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service when interacting with customers, suppliers, and team members.
• Participate in required safety meetings and ongoing driver training programs.
• Adhere to scheduled working hours and attend work consistently to ensure smooth operation and effective teamwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Must meet all current DOT and INDOT driver qualification standards, including a valid medical certification, acceptable driving record, and insurance approval.
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to conduct minor vehicle inspections and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site, including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to safely enter and exit tractors and trailers and perform required load inspections.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
• Frequent walking, standing, use of hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and occasionally work at heights.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
• Must be able to use standard office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and copier as needed.
