CDL Driver

About the role

This hybrid CDL driver role provides a variety of activities, with primary duties including planning delivery routes, transporting deliveries to customers, and transferring materials between our locations. Secondary responsibilities may include warehouse operations, inventory support, and sales assistance when branch support is needed. This diverse role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working both indoors and outdoors, and being part of a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Transport materials to and from retail or distribution centers
• Deliver to customer job sites and warehouses
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections for mechanical items and safety issues
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles
• Comply with CDL rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Report defects, accidents, or violations
• Communicate effectively with team members to fulfill orders and resolve issues
• Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with customers on deliveries
• Greet customers, answer calls, and provide customer support
• Pull, stage, and load customer orders
• Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked facility
• Receive and stock deliveries and transfers
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy checks

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a CDL Driver
• Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
• Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
• Valid CDL license
• Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment
• Strong customer service skills
• Moffett and forklift experience is a plus
• Bilingual preferred

Pay

$24–27/hr, depending on experience
