Summary
CDL Truck drivers are responsible for providing excellent customer service while safely delivering goods to homeowners or professional job sites. The position requires a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and experience operating heavier equipment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment.
- Unload material at destination utilizing best means of unloading based on site characteristics, material type, and available personnel.
- Possess thorough expertise in vehicle and forklift operation.
- Maximize delivery efficiency and reduce time spent per delivery by knowing local delivery routes and terrain.
- Address customers or job site representatives politely and professionally.
- Assist with load building, delivery preparation, yard and warehouse maintenance, and unloading incoming freight.
- Complete and document daily and weekly maintenance checklists to ensure safe operation of company equipment.
- Follow company procedures for job site pick-ups, refund processing, and handling paperwork, cash, credit cards, or checks.
- Adhere to traffic laws, speed or weight limits, and other posted directions.
- Maintain delivered inventory to protect against loss and theft.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the store manager or other qualified corporate or platform representatives.
Requirements
- Possession of an active Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with truck driving or delivery.
- Experience dealing with the public.
- Adequate driving record.
- Good basic math skills.
- Satisfactory reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Knowledge of building materials and delivery vehicles is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to pass any drug tests required by the company or DOT.
- Able to lift and load merchandise weighing up to 100 lbs. for various amounts of time.
- Able to climb ladders and maneuver safely at various locations.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
