About the role
As a Driver with BWI, you will transport and deliver goods while playing a critical role in meeting customer needs and maintaining strong customer relationships. This position involves more than just driving—it’s an essential part of our team and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Drive tractor-trailer combinations and straight trucks to transport and deliver products.
- Frequently interact with customers.
- Follow safety and placarding procedures.
- Perform trip, vehicle, and equipment inspections.
- Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair.
- Obtain delivery receipts/signatures and collect payment when required.
- Check load documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Correctly maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions.
- Properly secure cargo for transport.
- Read invoices to determine assignment details.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, and damage to vehicles or property.
- Read and interpret maps.
- Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines, and manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
- Collect delivery instructions, verifying instructions and routes.
- Operate onboard computers, CB radios, and telephones.
- Load and unload trucks and assist others with loading and unloading, including operating loading-related equipment (some manual unloading may be required).
- Collaborate with other BWI employees (e.g., employee training and sharing information) to ensure customer satisfaction and teamwork.
- Call the office twice daily, preferably at or about 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and at the conclusion of the route.
- Turn in travel expenses with receipts at the conclusion of each trip.
- Complete trip and returns reports.
- Maintain tractor/truck cleanliness.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) ‘A’ & ‘B’, with Haz-Mat and Tanker Endorsement.
- At least one year of CDL driving experience.
- Clean MVR with less than 3 moving violations over a three-year period.
- Ability to pass DOT physical & DOT drug screen.
- No DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years.

Pay
Wages are activity-based and highly competitive.
Schedule
While you will be home most nights, you may have 2 overnight trips weekly.
