ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
  • Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
  • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
  • Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
  • Comply with performance measures

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • CDL A License
  • Experience: Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar; Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices; Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit. Must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus
  • Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to ambient temperatures. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. On the road, the employee may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
