About the Role

A CDL Driver 1 is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), supporting agricultural activities including delivering liquids, dry mixes, seed, and grain, and hauling NH3. They load agricultural products into trucks, customer vehicles, and shuttles, and perform required maintenance on trucks and other equipment. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, teamwork, and a positive company image.

Essential Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain operational knowledge of trucks at assigned location and knowledge of applicable OSHA, State, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Ability to inspect and maintain trucks, and safely operate them on the road and into delivery areas
  • Ability to gain good working knowledge of agricultural products being handled, including MSDS knowledge
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
  • Ability to deal with emotional customers and help resolve complaints

Job Duties

  • Perform driving duties properly and in accordance with work orders
  • Operate and maintain delivery equipment properly and according to manufacturer’s maintenance and operator manuals; report needed maintenance or replacement to Agronomy Operations Manager
  • Mix agronomy products properly in accordance with quality standards
  • Report inventory needs to supervisor immediately
  • Inform Agronomy Operations Manager of any new business opportunities
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously, thank them for their business, resolve problems, and report possible misapplication issues to supervisor
  • Ensure customers are informed of safe product handling
  • Actively work to increase personal knowledge and skills
  • Ensure facilities and equipment meet federal, state, and OSHA regulations; report unsafe working conditions to Agronomy Operations Manager
  • Work directly with Strategic Account Managers on any location assisting with agronomy services
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance for yourself and your equipment
  • Complete special projects assigned by Agronomy Operations Manager
  • Provide outstanding customer service to generate repeat business

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to smell
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Required Education and Experience

A high school degree or GED.

Working Conditions

Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in hot and cold weather.
