CDL Class A Driver
About the role
The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of New Hudson Facades (NHF) materials, goods, cargo, or any other items transported by truck in support of the business. These freight moves may include intercompany transfers, deliveries to job sites, or other assigned tasks within the Materials & Logistics department. The role primarily involves operating Class A commercial vehicles, such as day cabs, tractors, and flatbed or 53-foot van trailers, in accordance with the employee's CDL classification and endorsements.
The position will focus on a dedicated milk-run route, completed multiple times daily, between NHF's Port facility and a New Jersey queuing yard near the Lincoln Tunnel entrance. When driving-related support is not required, the driver may be assigned additional duties, including forklift operation, loading and unloading trucks, or other tasks as directed by supervision.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport materials, goods, or cargo in support of the business.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles in accordance with CDL classification and endorsements (e.g., Hazmat).
- Secure cargo adequately based on requirements.
- Practice safe driving habits, including seatbelt use, obeying speed limits, and chocking wheels.
- Follow all state and federal safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain and record a detailed daily driver's log/logbook.
- Follow directions, maps, and GPS for safe and efficient navigation.
- Operate a forklift and assist with loading and unloading trucks when necessary.
- Maintain a clean vehicle, including interior, windows, windshield, mirrors, and snow removal.
- Refuel vehicles and check oil levels.
- Follow supervision's directions for routing and transport support.
- Report any issues or damages to products before loading or shipping.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Safe driving record.
- High school diploma preferred.

Physical Requirements
