About the role
Local/regional route with every other day home. Accurate and timely deliveries of mixed freight/retail goods. Driver touches every piece of freight on the truck.
Schedule
- Typically Monday–Friday, nights with an occasional Saturday night
- Shift: 11:45 PM start time with pull out between 1–4 AM; shifts may vary 10 hours to overnight
- Rotation: go out Mon/Weds/Fri or Tues/Thurs/Sat
- Every other day home: first day complete delivery route, stay that night in a hotel, drive home second day
- Typically 2 days off
- Averages 40–45 hours per week
Route details
- States serviced: AR, AL, KY, IN, MO, TN, MS
- Maximum distance round trip: 550 miles; routes range 530–540 miles
- Drive can vary 4–6 hours
Equipment
- 53' dry van roll up door
- Automatic transmission
Physical requirements
- Touch freight – loose cargo
- Driver uses handcart dolly and conveyors for unloading
- Driver touches every piece of freight on the truck
- Mixed freight can weigh 5 lbs to 90 lbs
- Dividers used at times to secure cartons
- Some warehouse work required
- Delivering to retail stores – every setup will be different
Requirements
- One year in the last three years of tractor trailer driving experience with a company who can verify employment
- Valid Class A CDL
- Valid DOT medical card
- Acceptable MVR and Accident History
- Good Work History
Pay
- $29.00 per hour
- $30 per diem
- Overtime after 40 hours
