About the role
The CDL A Test Driver position at Roush involves evaluating a variety of CDL license required vehicles on a durability test track. Responsibilities include safely operating class A commercial vehicles, driving specified routes or test tracks, documenting functional issues, testing vehicle features and systems, completing required paperwork, hooking and unhooking trailers, and reporting defects, accidents, or violations immediately.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate class A commercial vehicles, including electric and autonomous vehicles, in compliance with DOT rules
- Drive vehicles on specified routes or test track
- Document functional issues encountered while driving
- Test vehicle features and systems and evaluate vehicle performance
- Complete required paperwork to document issues
- Hook and unhook trailers
- Document and log all work and rest periods and miles spent driving using an ELD
- Retain fuel/toll and hotel receipts
- Comply with DOT rules and regulations, including HOS and pre/post trip inspections
- Report defects, accidents, or violations immediately
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Class A commercial driver's license
- 3+ years of recent, verifiable Class A driving (CDL A) experience
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and DOT drug test
- Ability to pass a background check
- An excellent driving record
- Willingness and ability to drive on a bumpy test track
- Willingness and ability to work afternoon shift from 2:30 PM to 11 PM
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation of the testing
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, including HOS limitations
- Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle
Qualifications
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
