About the role
As a Shuttle Driver, you will transport empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and return with full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. You will drive tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and/or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, and perform any assigned duties to support the company’s food-distribution operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including DOT-compliant inspections of tractor/truck and trailer; take corrective action as needed.
- Report safety issues and required repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies; immediately report hazards.
- Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Ensure all route paperwork is present and available upon dispatch.
- Drive and deliver trailers according to the predetermined route schedule.
- Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
- Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas.
- Secure all equipment and freight at all times.
- Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
- Unload equipment, materials, and trash from trailers as required.
- Complete daily hours-of-service logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 12 months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass pre-employment drug test and road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move and stack product cases/freight weighing 60–90 pounds throughout the shift.
