CDL A OTR Driver

About the role

The CDL A Truck Driver will transport and deliver windows and doors to dealers, distribution centers, and construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. This is a full-time, day shift position requiring a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, 2 years of commercial truck driving experience, and the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist in the loading and unloading of windows and doors to customer’s location and/or return products.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of windows and doors of varying weights.
• Safely drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations.
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations.
• Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, ELD, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record
• 2 years commercial truck driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical calculations with general mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, read road signs, maintain electronic logs, and safety control devices, etc.
• Ability to follow instructions and take directions via on-board computer system and by phone and e-mail
• Working knowledge of Zebra phones and Flex iPod or equivalent scanning a plus
• Ability to communicate well both verbally and written
• Must be able to work independently
• Able to work effectively with people in a fast-paced environment
