Responsibilities

• Drive trucks safely to pick up and deliver food.
• Maintain accurate records for all donation pick‑ups and deliveries.
• Provide backup for deliveries using the sprinter van and other vehicles when volunteers are unavailable.
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with partner agencies, food donors, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in the ongoing safety program and report equipment needing repairs to the Lead Driver.
• Ensure program operations comply with Second Harvest, state, and local regulations.
• Work collaboratively with volunteers and the operations team.
• Attend driver and all‑staff meetings.
• Perform regular general maintenance on all vehicles driven.
• Perform any other duties needed to ensure smooth operation of the distribution center and to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Equipment Requirements

• CDL‑A: Operate tractor‑trailers (48'–53'), straight trucks up to 26 ft, box trucks, and Sprinter vans.
• CDL‑B: Operate straight trucks up to 26 ft, box trucks, and Sprinter vans.
• Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment as necessary.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience.
• Class A CDL (or CDL‑A) for tractor‑trailer operation, or Class B CDL for straight‑truck operation.
• Ability to complete food‑safety certification within six months of hire.
• Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization (preferred).

Pay

Salary range: $23.27 – $27.88 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour differential for CDL‑A license holders. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and will remain open until filled.
