CDL A Local Driver

Pay is $36.50 per hour with overtime after 40 hours.

About the Role

P&D Drivers transport, load, and unload freight in a productive, safe, and claims-free manner between Service Centers and customers. The role involves operating commercial vehicles, handling freight, and interacting with customers while adhering to company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers.
• Properly document all freight control processes.
• Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, and hazardous materials markings.
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle.
• Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers.
• Interact and converse with external/internal customers.
• Safely operate a forklift to load/unload products when needed.
• Participate in training and improvement programs.
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating shifts, or assignments.
• Adhere to operational procedures in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual.

Requirements

• At least 23 years of age.
• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tank Endorsement.
• Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card.
• No DUI or reckless operation convictions in the past 3 years.
• Fewer than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Basic math skills and fluency in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling freight. Duties may include ascending/descending from the vehicle, manual handling of materials, and occasional use of powered tools or devices.
