CDL A Local Delivery Truck Driver

About the Role

Drivers run daily routes with frequent stops, loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading product at each stop in the order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. The candidate will operate in a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and returning the empty truck at the end of the route. May occasionally assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Run routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart, placing it in designated customer storage areas, including transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions.
• Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1–75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72” to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts; constantly bend and twist while loading, unloading, and retrieving items.
• Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; contact management for authorization when discrepancies exist on invoices.
• Report any delivery shortages (shorts) and handle customer complaints professionally.
• Handle company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• 21+ years of age.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a driving record that meets company standards.
• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports.
• Ability to lift, push, or move product weighing an average of 40–60 pounds and up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of customer delivery experience.
• 6 months of hand cart/hand truck experience.
• 6 months of food and beverage experience.
• 2 years of consistent work history.
