CDL-A Intermodal Driver | Home Every Night | Paid Training

About the role

Local intermodal driver based in Perth Amboy, moving containers from the Avenel yard to customers across New Jersey. Mostly drop‑and‑hook with some live loads, home every night.

Responsibilities

• Perform backing, trip planning, logs and fueling during the mentorship period.
• Run local container moves independently after training.
• Maintain safe driving practices and comply with DOT regulations.

Requirements

• Age 21 or older.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• New drivers: minimum 120 hours from a CDL school; otherwise, 6 months of recent driving experience.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years.
• No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years.
• Pass a DOT physical and hair/urine drug test.

Pay

• $650 per week during training.
• $1,200–$1,800 per week once solo.
• $55 per load plus $0.61 per mile.
• Typical mileage: 1,100–1,700 miles per week.
• Paid weekly.

Schedule

• Home every night; local runs keep you home daily.
• Mentorship period: 4–6 weeks with a trainer (backing, trip planning, logs, fueling) – paid $650/week.
• After mentorship, run solo and return home each night.
