About the Role
Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, picking up waste at customer locations and delivering it to recycling or disposal facilities. They ensure accurate completion of required paperwork for each pickup and delivery and maintain company vehicles in accordance with company policy.
Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain records of routes and times as required by state, federal law, and company policy.
- Accurately complete all documents required for operation of company vehicles, including Job Orders, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
- Transport waste and supplies safely to destination locations on time, verifying shipping loads against paperwork and obtaining signatures for materials delivered or picked up.
- Speak knowledgeably and courteously to VLS customers and recycling/disposal facility staff.
- Keep company vehicles clean and perform daily inspections and maintenance; submit repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts) safely to facilitate loading and unloading while observing all safety regulations.
- Perform material handling duties as necessary, including loading and unloading materials.
- Relay customer feedback, including concerns, complaints, damaged deliveries, and competitive knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to drive commercial vehicles, including 53-foot dry vans, vacuum trucks, vacuum trailers, and roll-off trucks and trailers (preferred).
- Ability to load and unload trucks.
- Ability to drive locally and regionally (up to 250 miles a day) with occasional layovers.
- No automatic transmission restrictions.
- Fully endorsed CDL with no restrictions (preferred).
- Open and transparent verbal communication skills; satisfactory written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and manage time and routes effectively.
- Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (Class A) with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements.
- Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
Pay
$29.00–$32.00 per hour.
