About the role
The CDL A Driver “Driver” reports to the Remediation Department. The Driver is responsible for the transportation of non-hazardous and hazardous waste materials via multiple vehicle types including but not limited to Roll-Offs, Tankers, Box Vans, Air Movers, etc. The Driver also performs tasks under the direct guidance of a supervisor including non-emergency and emergency response activities involving confined space entry such as manholes, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping and shoveling, high pressure washing and various other remedial activities.
Responsibilities
- Predominately local work with occasional mandatory out-of-town travel.
- Additional opportunities to volunteer for extra OTR routes.
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
- Adherence and documentation of all transportation compliance requirements including inspection reports, mileage logs, trip reports, etc.
- Operate multiple vehicle types such as Roll-Offs, Tankers, Box Vans and Air Movers, Preferred.
- Safety oriented mindset with the determination to follow all procedures and policies.
- Hazmat transportation, including placarding and manifesting.
- Active listening, coordination, social perceptiveness, and effective operation monitoring.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, in accordance with DOT guidelines.
- Must be able to get to the field office within one hour while on-call.
- Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and alcohol testing.
- Complete OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and other mandatory training courses.
- Work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel for extended periods of time, overnight, and on an on-call basis.
- Read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Perform physical labor including lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects.
- Willing to comply with ongoing and random drug testing and health physicals as required by the company and our clients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- At least 2 years of Class A Driving experience.
- Current CDL A with a clean driving record.
- Current Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements. No manual or airbrake restrictions.
- One year of previous hazardous materials, contaminated soil, or environmental remediation experience.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER experience/certification preferred.
