CDL A Driver

About the role

GrayMar Environmental Services is seeking a CDL A Driver to transport non-hazardous and hazardous waste materials using multiple vehicle types, including Roll-Offs, Tankers, Box Vans, and Air Movers. The role also involves performing non-emergency and emergency response activities such as confined space entry, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, and equipment operation. Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety by following policies, processes, and safe work practices.
• Adhere to and document transportation compliance requirements, including inspection reports, mileage logs, and trip reports.
• Perform predominantly local work with occasional mandatory out-of-town travel; volunteer for extra OTR routes as opportunities arise.
• Load and unload different types of waste materials effectively.
• Operate light and heavy equipment, including skid steers, forklifts, pressure washers, aerial lifts, boom lifts, excavators, pumps, and other company vehicles.
• Provide administrative support to the operations team as needed.
• Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
• Perform labor-intensive activities in all weather conditions, including confined spaces, low clearances, and at heights.
• Attend mandatory training to earn certifications and stay updated on responsibilities.
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed and submitted accurately.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency responses, which may require out-of-town travel of varying lengths depending on service center and project needs.
• Comply with ongoing and random drug testing and health physicals as required by the company and clients.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of Class A Driving experience.
• Current CDL A with a clean driving record.
• Current Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements; no manual or airbrake restrictions.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER experience/certification preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, alcohol testing, and background checks.
• Willingness to successfully complete OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and other mandatory training courses.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods, overnight, and on an on-call basis.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English, including the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, exhaust, and pressurized fluids.
• Capacity to perform physical labor, including lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects, up to 50 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to work under adverse conditions, including heat and cold.
• Ability to wear required PPE and operate in confined spaces, low clearances, and at heights.
