Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities
- Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Immediately reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to immediate supervisor and/or Asset Prevention.
- Maintains records such as vehicle logs, daily truck inspection, and load details according to all State and Federal laws and company procedures.
- Provides basic supervision for assigned truck helper, if applicable.
- Reports any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to immediate supervisor.
- Limits: Loads and unloads trucks, vehicles, containers and trailers. Loads and unloads vehicles using available equipment such as a pallet jack, hand truck, or forklift. Forklift training and certification will be provided by Goodwill.
- Operates jockey truck as assigned.
- Pads, stacks, and secures items in position on the truck to prevent damage during transit.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred with at least 6 months of Truck Driving experience required (one year preferred) or any job-related experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Class A CDL to operate straight truck, jockey truck, and tractor-trailers with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s standards.
- Able to pass the DOT Drug Screen and DOT Physical.
- Forklift Certification (Equipment training and certification are provided).
- Must be able to read operating and safety instructions.
- Must have a flexible schedule (can work evenings and weekends when required).
