About the role
Coastal Beverage Company, Inc., the leading beverage distributor in Eastern North Carolina, is seeking a service-driven professional for a full-service delivery route driver position. This field-based role requires consistent presence in customer accounts during standard business hours to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Safely deliver, unload, stock, and maintain beverage products in customer accounts as scheduled.
- Ensure compliance with ABC regulations for all sales, transactions, and point-of-sale (POS) materials.
- Adhere to DOT regulations, company policies, and safety protocols, including proper material handling, defensive driving, and use of PPE.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and comply with substance abuse and hours-of-service requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customer contacts and CBC sales staff.
- Represent CBC professionally through appearance and communication.
- Communicate customer concerns or issues to sales staff and management promptly.
- Rotate product, stock shelves, build displays, and organize back stock, shelves, and coolers in compliance with policies.
- Remove out-of-date, damaged product, empty kegs, and pallets as approved by management.
- Price product for designated driver-priced accounts.
- Verify ticket and product information, obtain customer signatures, and collect payments; secure cash and checks in the truck.
- Ensure accurate daily settlement of the route.
- Maintain company-assigned property and equipment.
- Provide guidance and direction to route assistants.
- Ensure regular and punctual attendance to meet delivery schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
- Basic mathematical skills, including calculations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
- Proficiency in email software, route accounting systems, and internet use.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active beer and wine sales license.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record compliant with company standards.
- Regular and punctual in-person attendance to support delivery operations.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly/constantly (>66% of workday): Handle/grip objects, hear, see, and use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, color, depth perception, and eye-hand coordination.
- Frequently (34-66% of workday): Sit, stand, walk, climb, lift kegs up to 160 pounds and cases up to 46 pounds, push/pull forces up to 65 pounds (using a hand truck), and talk.
