About the role

To serve our customers by safely and efficiently transporting products from the warehouse by driving a tractor trailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloading products according to customer invoices and company standards.

Pay

Average pay is $105K per year, with top earners making up to $150K yearly. Our formula for success is simple: Route Pay + Bonuses = SYGMA Top Dollars.

Schedule

• Evening dispatch, Sunday – Friday
• Overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts required
• Start times vary to meet customer needs

Responsibilities

• Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards (e.g., handling product according to preferred work methods, scanning product as it is delivered).
• Complete all paperwork according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g., DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports, pre- and post-trip reports, invoices, damages, and shortages).
• Ensure all food safety protocols are met (e.g., proper temperatures in the delivery vehicle, product inspection for visible damages, prevention of cross-contamination).
• Maintain sanitary conditions in tractor, trailer, warehouse, and yard.
• Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
• Drive both team and single routes.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent degree (completion of a tractor trailer driving school may substitute).
• 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment.

• Operate a 3-axle tractor, 45' - 48' trailer, straight truck, on-board computer, keypad, and 2-wheel hand cart
• Perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• Plan and organize work independently
• Read and speak English sufficiently for public interaction, traffic signs, and official inquiries

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear
• Frequently required to lift, push, or move up to 50 pounds by hand and push/pull up to 250 pounds with a 2-wheeled hand cart
• Climb in and out of a tractor and trailer
• Reach to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts
• Bend and twist while loading/unloading product
• Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold, and/or humid conditions
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and confined spaces
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles
• Moderate noise level
• Overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
