CCS Bus Garage Mechanic

The Bus Mechanic position is a 12-month, 40-hour/week position within the Transportation Department at Clay Community Schools. The starting pay rate is $21.57/hour.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses according to manufacturer specifications and state regulations
• Perform routine maintenance checks on buses to ensure safety and compliance
• Respond to bus malfunctions during operating hours to minimize downtime
• Document all repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with company policy

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Indiana Driver's License
• At least 2 years of experience in bus mechanics or related field
• Knowledge of automotive systems and components
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good communication skills
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting and bending

Skills

• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues
