About the Role

This is a remote and overnight position with hours of 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Must be local to the Camden, NJ area and able to attend a few weeks of in-person training (2-3 weeks). This is a nonexempt role responsible for medical assistant care under the supervision of physicians, providers, and/or registered nurses in various ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and guests using AIDET, providing excellent service and keeping patients informed of delays.
  • Perform administrative duties, including rooming functionality, documentation of vitals, pain, reason for visit, review of medications, and medical/social/surgical/family history.
  • Complete work in EMR in-baskets, telephone communication, MyChart messaging, and medical record documentation.
  • Obtain reports, results, and medical records; complete insurance/disability forms, precertification, and authorizations.
  • Assist with point-of-care testing, transcribing orders, order entry, and managing bump lists, wait lists, and work queues.
  • Schedule appointments, including follow-ups for physician visits, imaging, and lab post-visit, and during patient outreach.
  • Perform patient outreach and call-backs for messages received in pools, MyChart, and confirmation calls.
  • Administer vaccines and document appropriately per established policies; collect and handle specimens per protocols.
  • Assist physicians/providers with monitoring and reporting lab results; file reports, labs, and radiology results in EMR.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and testing.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and patients, adhering to Cooper’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Maintain regulatory standards and adapt to a fast-paced environment; may be asked to work at other ambulatory offices based on volume.
  • Provide customer service via phone, telehealth, or electronic communication; schedule appointments and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Serve as an EHR liaison for clinicians, assisting with check-in/out and administrative duties.
  • Maintain EHR database, confirm appointments, print visit documents, and ensure patient completion.
  • Resolve conflicts and handle phone calls professionally; manage Cooper 365 phone matters.
  • Oversee recertifications, referrals, and prior authorizations; develop efficient processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills; verify and enter patient personal, demographic, and financial information.
  • Deliver exceptional experiences to patients, customers, and clinicians consistently and timely.
  • Manage scanning of documents, CDL physicals, medication samples, and new patient contracts.
  • Ensure paperwork alignment for consistent collections (monthly, semi-annually, or annually).
  • Handle customer complaints independently and assist clinicians with patient escalations.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant and graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong medical terminology and EHR proficiency.
  • Efficient analytical skills and computer literacy.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

  • Overnight shifts: 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
