About the Role
As CBI Laboratory Technician you will be part of the Vulcan New Product Development Team (COE), responsible for developing new products including prototyping and testing solutions. Additional responsibilities include developing test procedures, testing for quality improvement and certification needs. Strong prototyping skills as well as ability to work independently are required to achieve product development milestones. You should be curious, inventive, and creative with proven record of equipment prototyping, manufacturing and testing.
What You'll Do
- Practicing the ITW corporate strategy, ITW Toolbox, ITW Core Values and Code of Conduct.
- Understanding and applying the importance of CBI – following the CBI New Product Development (Stage-Gate) Process.
- Pioneer new cooking technologies, including advanced controls and heating systems.
- Assist R&D teams in assembly, modification, and testing commercial cooking equipment to support new product development, continuous improvement efforts, proof-of-concepts, and certification needs.
- Develop, establish, execute, and document laboratory test procedures for the entire product portfolio, partnering closely with Engineering to define requirements and validate performance.
- Support laboratory testing to investigate and resolve vendor quality defects and field issues, while assisting component sourcing and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Supported the lab team in managing and organizing the storage areas for prototypes and lab equipment.
- As requested, work with and support other ITW FEG operations to develop and improve cooking technologies.
- Participate in engineering product design reviews.
- Regular reports progress to management.

What You Bring
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s degree preferred
- 3+ years’ professional experience with food service equipment, commercial, industrial, or similar equipment
- English required
- Professional presence, trustworthy, respectful, team orientated and independent.

- Strong hands-on shop skills with experience in assembly and testing prototypes
- Press brake, welding, or automated cutting experience preferred
- Familiarity with thermocouples, multimeters, and data acquisition systems
- Scientific approach, diligence in data gathering
- Applicable computer skills using Microsoft Suite
- 3D modeling experience using SolidWorks a plus
- Adherence to quality standards, SOPs, and other policies and practices including safety and regulatory compliance
Work Environment
- This is an in-office position
- Must be able to stand or walk for a duration of 2 hours.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach and twist to complete all job tasks.
- Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, steel/composite toe safety shoes) when required.
- Combination - industrial plant floor, R&D-Lab and office.
- Local travel up to 10%
- Hands on testing and/or troubleshooting
- Lifting up to 50lbs
- Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, some flexibility in set hours allowable.

Pay
Base salary ranging from $29.70 - $40.20 and eligible for variable compensation.
