About the role

Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs has been a trusted partner since 1961, serving children, youth, and families with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. Based in Needham, we provide comprehensive, trauma-informed residential, educational, and clinical services across Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children and youth navigating social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Support the emotional, behavioral, and educational development of youth as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide supervision and basic caretaking for youth, including crisis management as needed.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of social and recreational activities for youth on the unit.
• Supervise an intern on the unit.
• Participate in Walker medication training to administer medications to youth as needed.
• Maintain spaces according to Walker and licensing standards.
• Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and treatment meetings to discuss youth’s progress.
• Collaborate with staff and supervisors across shifts and campus programs to ensure smooth operations and consistent treatment of youth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience working with youth in a similar setting.
• Successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, First Aid/CPR training, and medication training.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina to participate in activities with children, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, lifting up to 10 lbs., sitting, and performing tasks such as running and typing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer experience.
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously.
• Flexible and collaborative work style, especially during times of high stress.
• Valid MA driver’s license preferred for transporting clients in company vehicles.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Bi-weekly rotating schedule with every other weekend, additional flexibility may be required based on operational and business needs.
