CBA Airframes Aircraft Mechanic I (F-18 Corrosion Control)
Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on specific applicable T/M/S aircraft airframe, ordnance, egress/life support system, power plants, corrosion control and painting, and related systems.
- Hires to maintain aircraft structures, aircraft ordnance systems, egress systems, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, aviation ordnance systems, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe, ordnance and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
- Routine lifting in excess of OSHA standards is required.
- Routine ordnance loading will require team lifts of ordnance items up to 167 pounds’ load share per team member, in accordance with standard USN procedures.
- Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
- Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, O-Level aircraft weapon/ordnance loading systems and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, engine test equipment, fuel cell test equipment, Engine/APU Turn Qual procedures, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, the CNAFINST 4790.2 (series), and NALCOMIS maintenance action data documentation etc. is required.
- Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
Qualifications
- Candidate experience must be clearly defined on resumes by listing specific dates (month & year) and locations of relevant experience.
- This experience relates to structural repairs, hydraulics, egress, ordnance or power plants/related systems.
- Aviation Ordnance candidates experience shall be minimum five years O-Level experience.
- Completes the appropriate T/M required/Series aircraft specific Navy Skill Specialty Class "A" school in airframe, egress, hydraulic, ordnance, power plants and related systems or USMC/USCG equivalent.
- Candidates must have been released from military service with an Honorable Discharge to meet minimum qualifications.
