Catholic Substitute Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Substitute teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for 13 hours per week in Jacksonville, FL, on an as needed basis for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

• Teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for 13 hours per week on an as needed basis.
• Teach when staff are out sick, but can decline if not available on a particular day.
• Teach without a teaching certification nor formal teaching experience.
• Teach everything you need to know from us.

Requirements

• Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children.
• Ministry in your Catholic parish.
• Teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
• Teaching your own children.
• Teaching in a classical or private school (not required).

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Good organization.
• Timeliness.
• A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all the sacraments appropriate to his or her state in life.

Skills

• None specifically listed, but strong communication and organizational skills are required.

Schedule

Center hours are Mondays and Thursdays 8:45am - 3:15pm. Mandatory training on August 10 or 11, 2026 (TBD) is required before working in the classroom.
