Catholic Musician

Responsibilities

• Play music at Sunday service of worship: 104 units.
• Conduct Music for special services of worship: 10 units.
• Play music for Command Memorial Services as needed: 5 units.
• Lead volunteer choirs in both Chapels: 104 units.
• Arrive for all services no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the service.
• Meet with the RTC and Naval Station Great Lakes Command Chaplains at least monthly and provide a written and verbal account of work.
• Develop rapport and promote team building within the Roman Catholic volunteer choirs, praise teams, and/or other choral groups.
• Notify the Command Chaplain (or Duty Chaplain, as appropriate) by telephone and email between 2-3 hours ahead of scheduled time when unable to perform services due to illness, inclement weather, and/or emergencies.

Requirements

• Clear understanding of Navy organization and the pluralistic ministry requirements that affect the use of Chapel facilities and staff.
• At least two years of pianist, and/or organ experience with a Roman Catholic congregation or religious worship.
• Demonstrate requisite skills in a variety of sacred musical genres appropriate for a variety of sacred music styles found in Roman Catholic Mass.
