Catholic Choir Director

Duties

• Conduct rehearsals and performances for at least half an hour, but no more than two and for the Catholic Worship Services.
• Obtain the Catholic Priest’s approval for special music and activities.
• Direct the 0800 and 1100 Mass every weekend.
• Choose the songs for the worship service and coordinate these songs with the Catholic Priest or his designee, and the Musician.
• Work with the Catholic Priest to select and direct special music when needed.
• Recruit and train members for the choir.
• Be responsible for all requests for equipment and facilities utilized by the choir.

Qualifications

• Have practical experience for proficiency in reading, singing, and directing music.
• Have a working knowledge of worship music used in Catholic Worship settings and an ability to learn and direct new songs.
• Will be on time.
• Will contact supervising chaplain or delegate if there is a time conflict.
• Will maintain professional appearance.
• Present qualities that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with chaplain corps members, choir directors, choir members, and members of other faith groups for ecumenical and interfaith services.
