Responsibilities
- Conduct rehearsals and performances for Catholic Worship Services (30 minutes to 2 hours).
- Obtain the Catholic Priest’s approval for special music and activities.
- Direct the 0800 and 1100 Mass every weekend.
- Choose the songs for the worship service and coordinate these songs with the Catholic Priest or his designee, and the Musician.
- Work with the Catholic Priest to select and direct special music when needed.
- Recruit and train members for the choir.
- Be responsible for all requests for equipment and facilities utilized by the choir.
Requirements
- Practical experience in reading, singing, and directing music.
- Working knowledge of worship music used in Catholic Worship settings and an ability to learn and direct new songs.
- Punctuality; must contact supervising chaplain or delegate if there is a time conflict.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with chaplain corps members, choir directors, choir members, and members of other faith groups for ecumenical and interfaith services.
