Ideal candidate would be available Tuesdays and Thursdays 1600–2100; possibility for other days as available.

About the Role

As a highly skilled and compassionate Cath-Lab Recovery Registered Nurse, you will work in a fast-paced 12-bed unit and be responsible for the pre- and post-operative care of Cath and EP Lab patients. You will provide assistance with electrophysiology interventional procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, monitor patients during recovery from procedures including coronary angiograms, coronary ablations, and pacemakers, and assist physicians with procedures such as cardioversions, TEE’s, and loop placements. You will also provide patient education as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective communication among departmental staff to ensure an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with procedures and prepare tests for physician interpretation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well under stressful situations.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members and orient as needed.
  • Assist and educate patients undergoing electrophysiology study procedures of the heart.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in working with electrophysiology patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology and device implantation procedures.
  • Assist the patient through all aspects of the procedure, including administration of medications, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, circulating, and scrubbing during EP procedures and other procedures scheduled in invasive procedure labs.
  • Help develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license in good standing.
  • Associate’s Degree in nursing required; bachelor’s preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • 2+ years recent Step-Down, ICU, PACU, or previous Cath/EP experience required.
  • 1+ years telemetry experience required.
