About the role

Facilitate effective communication between all departments to provide the best catering experience for customers. Lead the Catering Department by training Catering Clerks/Drivers in job operations, product knowledge, sales skills, and industry-leading customer service. Create efficient department schedules using the company’s workforce management software, aligning with payroll budgets. Develop organized plans with Store Management during peak times such as holidays. Maintain a clean environment, including the catering desk, storage areas, and vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of the department, including sales calls, sales meetings, catering management software, troubleshooting, driving/delivery, and working the sales desk.
  • Greet, assist, and thank all customers promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Commit to the “Golden Rule” and collaborate with associates to build a strong catering team.
  • Achieve high associate morale by working in a Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team-Oriented (RSTO) style.
  • Go out of your way to satisfy customer requests, including phone and in-store sales, follow-ups, thank-you cards, and calls.
  • Coordinate order pickups at the store level and communicate delivery schedule changes to customers in a timely manner.
  • Email all customer invoices daily.
  • Handle sales and service functions at the catering desk, including computer order entry and processing.
  • Create department schedules while meeting payroll budgets.
  • Schedule deliveries and coordinate delivery drivers.
  • Coordinate with outsourced vendors (service/equipment rentals).
  • Maintain a daily equipment log with scheduled recovery.
  • Review the Catering Vehicle Inspection Log weekly.
  • Check daily orders for proper pricing and review unpaid orders/Q Buster reports to ensure all orders are paid.
  • Generate the Next Day Order Report daily with department managers.
  • Coordinate work orders for department managers.
  • Ensure company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, temperature logs, and productivity are met.
  • Order all supplies for catering and communicate customer issues or concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Assist other stores when needed.
  • Be safety-conscious and correct any unsafe conditions observed.
  • Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance, including proper uniform.
  • Keep sales and work areas clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
  • Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
  • Present a favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene, and professional attitude.
  • Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, or property defacement.
  • Attend Food Shows and large Catering Functions as required.
  • Deliver catering orders if a driver is unavailable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Complete training in catering operations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with customers, vendors, and associates.
  • Pleasant phone manners and sales motivation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
  • Authorized to work within the U.S.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

  • Continuously (67-100%): Handling, fingering, feeling, reaching at waist or overhead, talking, seeing, hearing, twisting of back and neck.

Working Conditions

Work environment is inside and outside, with exposure to cold and hot temperatures. Machines, tools, and equipment utilized include computers and telephones. Continuous movement of the entire body is required.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $21.70 - $28.20 per hour. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
