Catering Cook

About the role

The Catering Cook assists Sous Chefs with preparing and cooking ingredients, including washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, reducing sauces, parboiling food, and preparing both simple dishes (salads, entrées) and more complex tasks such as braising and meat fabrications. The role also requires traveling off‑site to perform duties at outside venues, such as operating carving stations. The Cook must deliver high‑volume, high‑quality, consistent products in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a safe, clean kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist the culinary team with measurement and preparation of ingredients.
• Participate in food preparation and portioning prior to service and at special events.
• Ensure food quality and consistency by following designated company recipes.
• Uphold safety and sanitation procedures throughout the kitchen.
• Handle a heavy portion of food production.
• Maintain personal hygiene and meet food safety standards at all stages of preparation.
• Operate carving stations on‑site at social, corporate, and wedding events.
• Work in the dish room on an as‑needed basis.
• Take out trash, mop floors, and keep the work and surrounding kitchen area clean.
• Maintain an active driver’s license with a five‑year clean driving record.

Requirements

• Work experience: Culinary experience required.
• Skills: Excellent knife skills.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate/License: Active driver’s license with a five‑year clean driving background.
• Language: Complete written and oral proficiency in English.
• Security/Confidentiality: All company materials and information must not be disclosed or transferred outside the company; violations are grounds for termination.
• Training: All mandatory training must be completed.
• Performance standards: Ability to adjust to last‑minute changes, assist sales and kitchen staff, and step in where needed.

Working Conditions

Fast‑paced environment with high noise levels, frequent walking, and long hours during event days. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lb.
