Job Summary
The Category Specialist - Chemicals will manage Apex's procurement process and develop sourcing strategies for the Company's supply chain, supporting key stakeholders in acquiring products efficiently and meeting high quality standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct support for Apex's projects by procuring materials and monitoring delivery status of assigned suppliers/commodities
- Lead negotiations with suppliers/commodities regarding pricing, delivery, and payment terms
- Develop and implement procurement strategies, including cost savings initiatives
- Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate pricing and contractual terms
- Establish strategies supporting national and regional needs for multiple production facilities and customer markets
- Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives related to quality, delivery, cost, and inventory metrics
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on timely containment and resolution of quality and delivery issues
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand needs, develop specifications, and ensure procurement aligns with business objectives
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify new opportunities for cost savings, improved quality, and enhanced efficiency
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations, identify areas for improvement, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes and improve overall efficiency
- Provide regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings
- Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) plus years of experience as a Category Specialist or similar procurement role
- Practical knowledge of ERP systems and relevant transactions
- In-depth knowledge of best practices in procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Prioritized Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field
- CSCP or other relevant certification
- Experience in chemical and/or water treatment industry
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.
