Category / Procurement Specialist

The Job DEPCOM Power is currently seeking a Category/Procurement Specialist to join the team. This role supports Project and Services operations within the Supply Chain Capability, focusing on materials and equipment categories such as Modules, BESS, HV, BoS, Structural, Rental Equipment, Tooling, and construction materials.

About the Role

This position plays a crucial role in supporting utility-scale solar and energy projects by sourcing materials and services throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include collaborating with project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant supply chain solutions.

Responsibilities

• Supports sourcing of optimal materials and equipment for operations
• Develops and manages key suppliers and contracts
• Scales assets and supports growing business units
• Executes purchasing activities for materials, equipment, and services aligned with project schedules and business needs
• Identifies, evaluates, and works with suppliers to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery
• Prepares and manages purchase orders, contracts, and related documentation
• Collaborates with engineering, construction, logistics, and project management teams to support project execution
• Tracks orders, resolves issues, and proactively manages risks related to supply, cost, or schedule
• Supports continuous improvement efforts within procurement processes and supplier performance
• Ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and ethical sourcing practices
• Reports on purchasing activities to stakeholders with consideration of finances
• Manages office-to-project communication and support
• Analyzes and reports on risks, opportunities, and developments within the categories
• Manages preventative maintenance and servicing coordination for all assets
• Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks within priorities and thrives in a challenging environment with high visibility

Requirements

• Experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Category, Asset, or Commodity Sourcing or Procurement
• Experience using supply chain, procurement, asset, or commodity management software
• Supplier negotiation and relationship management experience
• Experience analyzing and optimizing supply chain, asset, or category processes, procedures, and/or work scopes
• Understanding of material lead times, logistics, and project schedules
• Experience supporting EPC, renewable energy, or large-scale construction projects
• Familiarity with project financials and cost analysis
• Experience in Total Cost of Ownership analysis
• Familiarity with Solar or Construction assets and commodities
• Experience building operations support systems and capabilities
• Post-secondary degree in Supply Chain Management or related field

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship now or in the future
