Category Manager, Indirect Spend

About the role

This interim position serves a leading organization in Libertyville, focusing on developing and executing sourcing strategies across assigned indirect spend categories.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year category strategies
• Lead RFx events, supplier evaluations and commercial negotiations
• Analyze spend, market trends and total cost of ownership
• Identify cost savings, supplier consolidation and process improvement opportunities
• Negotiate contracts in partnership with Legal and Finance
• Establish supplier KPIs and manage ongoing performance
• Build strong supplier relationships focused on quality, innovation and service
• Promote compliance with procurement policies and procure-to-pay processes
• Prepare reports and presentations highlighting sourcing performance and results

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Operations or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing or category management
• Demonstrated experience managing indirect spend within a corporate or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of category strategy, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract management
• Experience conducting spend analysis, market analysis and total cost of ownership evaluations
• Strong analytical, negotiation, project management and stakeholder-management skills
