About the role

We are seeking applicants with Construction, Engineering, or Materials experience for a Senior Category Manager role to lead the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar Operations construction projects. This role will work alongside a team of Construction category managers and partner closely with Pre-Construction, Design and Construction, World Wide Real-Estate, and World Wide Design to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings/value, and improve productivity across the category.
The right candidate will be a self-starter with dedication to seeing projects through to completion, able to work independently in a collaborative, creative, ever-changing, and ambiguous environment. You will have an eye for detail and a determination to standardize processes and deliver high-quality work. This position involves direct contact with both internal and external stakeholders, requiring effective communication with business partners at every level, including upper management.
Travel up to 25% may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead General Contractor and supplier strategies for construction category projects, partnering with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver complex, multi-million-dollar sites.
- Identify, develop, and deliver long-term sourcing strategies; lead key initiatives with cross-functional teams and drive the decision-making process of the category roadmap with senior leadership.
- Build relationships and alignment with internal and external stakeholders to plan and deliver site launches, particularly for Prime week and Peak season.
- Own individual targets and goals across the NA General Contractor construction category scope, identifying and delivering incremental process and system improvements.
- Drive supplier sourcing, award, contracting, and ongoing support until project delivery, maintaining commercial relationships to achieve optimal cost and performance.
- Lead supplier performance management, including improving sustainability and social responsibility.
- Help develop Key Performance Indicators and set goals for the team.
- Audit team progress to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed.
A day in the life
- Deliver market-leading, low-cost, innovative, and sustainable construction equipment/services to help Operations teams succeed and delight Amazon customers.
- Collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from external suppliers and internal partners across Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Workplace Health & Safety, and Finance.
- Adapt and sometimes take on different roles—from strategy development to project management—to rapidly meet customer needs.
- Focus on deep-diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for Operations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of program or project management experience.
- 3+ years of working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics.
- 2+ years of supply chain experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups) and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end-to-end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership.
- 3+ years of driving process improvements.
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules.
Pay
Base salary ranges:
- USA, TX, Houston: $85,800.00 - $128,600.00 USD annually.
- USA, VA, Arlington: $85,800.00 - $128,600.00 USD annually.
Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
