Casualty Claims Adjuster Hybrid
About the role
The Casualty Claims Adjuster investigates and evaluates coverage, liability, damages, and settles Bodily Injury claims directly with injured parties, within prescribed authority levels. This role also involves pursuing proactive contact with injured parties, identifying potential suspicious claims, and communicating with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants.
Responsibilities
- Investigates and evaluates coverage, liability, damages, and settles Bodily Injury claims directly with injured parties, within prescribed authority levels.
- Pursues proactive contact with injured parties through various creative means to connect, listen, empathize, and make early settlement offers whenever appropriate to resolve injury claims.
- Identifies potential suspicious claims and refers to SIU and identifies opportunities for third-party subrogation.
- Communicates with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants in order to gather information regarding claims; refers tasks to auxiliary resources as necessary and advises as to proper course of action.
- Sends and responds to various written, telephone, and SMS text inquiries to pursue resolution of the claim.
- Ensures adequacy of reserves.
- Accounts for security of financial processing of claims, as well as security information contained in claims files.
- Makes effective use of loss management tools and techniques to ensure accuracy in decision making.
- Keeps files updated with clear documentation for ease in understanding the status of investigations, evaluations, and negotiations throughout the claim life cycle.
Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Good interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills required.
- Growth mindset; adapts well to change including new standard work and new tools.
- Basic knowledge of legal liability, general insurance policy coverage, and State Tort Law preferred.
- Liability experience or policy and claims knowledge preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
