Summary of Position

This position is designed to assist Drosophila stock maintenance, fly food cooking, and genetic research. This task requires precision and accuracy. The candidate will receive training. Approximately 12 hours a week.

Job Duties

  • 50% Maintain Fly Stocks: Assist in maintaining fly stocks
  • 20% Fly Food Cooking: Preparing fly food for the Drosophila lab community
  • 30% Drosophila genetic research: Assist in molecular genetic experiments

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (must be documented in application materials):

  • BA/BS or work experience to equal two years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and focus

About the Department

The Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development encompasses a broad range of biological disciplines, including the storage and expression of information, its translation into the workings of individual cells, and the assembly of cells into tissues and organ systems.

Pay

Pay Range: $22.00 depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
