About the role

This Casual MRI Technologist position at UPMC Western Maryland works primarily daylight hours, with a mix of 8-hour and 10-hour shifts. The latest scheduled MRI shift is currently 10:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. The role includes rotating Saturdays and Sunday call coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
  • Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
  • Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.
  • Reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol prior to the start of the exam.
  • Identifies all patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in data acquisition, including labeling/preparation/administration of contrast.
  • Documents patient history in the electronic record as required.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, interacting with patients and coworkers with care, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Works as a team member within the department and across other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explains procedures to alleviate fears, and solicits cooperation.
  • Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, patient information is updated in Rad Assessment, exams are networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are entered for performed exams.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARDMS, or ARMRIT program.
  • Must be a licensed Radiology Tech in Maryland with ARRT certification.
  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS certification required (based on AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire).

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on their individual experience and education.
