About the role
The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician, advanced practice professional, and/or registered nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
- Prepares for provider visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
- Auxiliaries with exams, procedures, and immunizations for adult and child patients.
- Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
- Auxiliaries with patient examinations and procedures during provider visits.
- Educates patients on follow-up expectations.
- Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
- Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
- Auxiliaries with patients' completion of medical documentation.
- Records test results in patient charts and contacts patients as necessary regarding tests.
- Thoroughly cleans and stocks each examination room weekly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Current National Certification as CMA.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred.
- One (1) year of healthcare experience is preferred.
