Responsibilities

  • Safely follow procedures in aerogel manufacturing processes, including chemical batch making, casting, rewind, and solvent recovery as documented by Aspen Aerogels.
  • Adhere to control plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and monitor product quality.
  • Make technical decisions, solve problems, and ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) practices.
  • Communicate effectively across departments.
  • Follow all safety procedures in a Class I Division I/II area.
  • Maintain a clean work area conforming to 6S and automotive customer requirements.
  • Comply with RCRA requirements under EHS direction and maintain respirator certification.
  • Maintain forklift certification.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Sol Prep, 4th Stream, Casting, Rewind, Material Handling, and Solvent Recovery systems.
  • Oversee casting table operations, prioritizing safety, quality, and continuous production.
  • Complete tasks as prescribed by the Master Task List and Clean Inspect Lubricate list.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and quality expectations.
  • Escalate production barriers to supervisors or managers for resolution.
  • Participate in RCCRAs or RCIs as needed.
  • Prepare for, communicate during, and actively participate in operational and project team meetings.
  • Provide timely feedback on issues and task closure related to your area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment; Class I Division I/II experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment, process, or quality issues and escalate needs to ensure production continuity.
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ABB, Rockwell, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (4 days on, 4 days off); overtime and holiday work required (24/7 plant operation).
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving capabilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Continually required to stand and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places.
  • Continually works near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
  • Exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold (non-weather), and loud noise levels.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Works in a continually dusty environment.

Specialized equipment used: High Temp Oven, Turret System, Lift Table, Clicker Press, CNC Machine, Waterjet Machine, Slitting Machine, Forklift, Mokon (for Lamination), Mahlo.
