About the Role
This civilian position within Pasco County Corrections is responsible for the control, storage, and retrieval of monies and property of all inmates housed at the Land O' Lakes Corrections Center. The role also involves processing payments and receipts for cash bonds and cash purges.
Responsibilities
- Process the property and monies of all inmates entering the facility, store property in the Property Room, and enter property inventories in the computer.
- Prepare receipts for all processed property and monies and present them to inmates to review and sign.
- Maintain and file sign-in sheets for the Property Room.
- Locate the property of inmates being released and move it to the dress-out area.
- Prepare the property of inmates being sent to other county/state correctional facilities.
- Properly dispose of clothing items contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids.
- Report and document any contraband found while inventorying property.
- Wash soiled clothing.
- Store and document lost or abandoned items in the lost and found area.
- Answer inmate requests and send property to housing when authorized by policy.
- Forward paperwork to Classification.
- Ensure proper security of keys.
- Receive monies from new inmates, bonds, cash purges, child support purges, meal tickets, and car wash tickets.
- Verify that all cash deposits are correct and scan all monies to detect counterfeits.
- Maintain meal ticket log.
- Accept, time stamp, and forward security bonds to Release Officer.
- Write cash bond, cash purge, and child support purge receipts.
- Review and process inmate property releases.
- Verify the inmate cash drawer whenever assuming duty in the Cashiers Office and at the end of shift.
- Release the property of inmates leaving the facility on the computer.
- File all appropriate paperwork in inmates’ safes.
- Prepare cash refunds and cash cards for inmates leaving the facility.
- Forward bond receipts to the Clerk of Court.
- Maintain ledgers for all cash accounts.
- Forward all appropriate paperwork to the Inmate Processing Sergeant.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- One (1) year of experience with property and cash handling or related field preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
- Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE will be required.

- This is a shift work position with 12-hour shifts.
