Cashier Part Time Weekends

About the Role

As a Cashier at Fresh Thyme Market, you will be responsible for the efficient expedition of customer sales transactions at the front registers. You will maintain proper control of cash, ensure customer satisfaction, and safeguard company assets. This role requires assisting customers as needed and maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor while adhering to all procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department.

Responsibilities

• Walk the store prior to each shift to ensure awareness of promotional and sale items; conduct produce walk and weekly testing.
• Compute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due.
• Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change due to customers.
• Operate cash register by scanning price-coded items, entering PLU or UPC manually, compiling printed lists, and displaying the cost of customer purchases, tax, and rebates on the monitor screen.
• Greet customers entering the store and respond promptly to customer needs.
• Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas, ensuring no personal items are in the area.
• Issue coupons and rain checks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency degree.
• Preferred 1–2 years of grocery retail experience in Front End department processes and procedures.
• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.

Pay

This role starts between $14.50 and $16.00 per hour. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location. Raises occur in accordance with the Fresh Thyme Market plan policy.
