Cashier - Full Time

About the role

As a Cashier, you will craft quality customer experiences by providing efficient, effective customer service in the checkout lane that creates a positive and lasting impact on Meijer customers. As a full time Cashier you will work in the service department which includes staffed cashier lanes, self check out, the customer service desk, and Meijer pickup. There are times that our cashiers who are 21 years old and older will also assist at the Meijer Express Gas Station.

What You'll Be Doing

• Utilize technology to complete activities and tasks
• Create 'WOW' moments that have a positive and lasting impact on our customers
• Complete transactions, handle money in all forms responsibly and maintain accuracy of point of sale purchases
• Use good eye contact and body language, displaying a friendly and outgoing attitude
• Be prepared to handle customer questions adequately and appropriately
• Build trustful relationships with customers to encourage return visits

Requirements

• Must have open availability all days of the week between 5:00 am till midnight. Applicants that do not indicate open availability will be declined
• Applicants must be 18 years old or older

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Strong listening and communications skills, face-to-face and virtually
• Willingness to learn or existing familiarity with job-specific technology
• Problem-solving competence and eagerness to troubleshoot when necessary
• Desire to work with customers
• Previous retail or customer experience preferred but not required
• Good verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented and organized
• Friendly outgoing attitude
• Ability to operate cashier register system

Pay

This job has a step pay plan that generally starts between $15.25 - $16.98 with raises occurring after predetermined hours worked. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location.
