Cashier

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for providing efficient, accurate, and friendly checkout service while serving as one of the final touchpoints in the customer's shopping experience. This role processes transactions accurately, maintains a balanced cash drawer, and ensures customers are greeted and assisted professionally.

Responsibilities

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently
• Process cash, credit, debit, gift card, and other payment transactions in accordance with company procedures
• Positively represent the Stoltzfus Meats culture to all guests and customers
• Maintain an accurate and balanced cash drawer throughout each shift
• Provide prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to every guest
• Accurately scan, weigh, and price merchandise
• Verify product codes and pricing when necessary
• Handle returns and exchanges in accordance with company policy
• Monitor front-end inventory such as bags, receipt paper, and supplies
• Support overall store operations as needed during peak business periods

Qualifications

• Previous cashier or cash handling experience preferred
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain friendly and composed in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic math skills and ability to make change accurately
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to follow established procedures and company policies
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to bend, reach, and move items across the checkout counter
• Ability to operate POS equipment, including keyboard, scanner, and receipt printer
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
