Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
- Actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy.
- Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages to control loss.
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues; notify store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departments or store managers of needed repairs.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Desired previous job experience:
- Customer service experience.
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
